Medical Director, SAFER (Stavanger Acute medicine Foundation for Research and Education) since 2006

President of the Scandinavian Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (SSAI) from January 2006.

Founding Editor of “Akuttjournalen” – the Scandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency medicine. Referee and member of several international journals. More than 10 years experience as part-time flight physician with Norwegian Air Ambulance. Long-time member of TCI/ITACCS (International Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care Society). Received the Norwegian ASTRA award for scientific and clinical excellence in 1997. Besides chairing and organizing several successful international and national scientific meetings in Stavanger, Norway (AIRMED2000, TraumaCare2002, HLR2003, Akuttdagene 2004 and 2006, Scandinavian Update 2005 on Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine, Resuscitation2006),  he has been a much used  invited speaker and chairman on many international and national meetings related to anesthesiology, critical care and emergency medicine, and trauma.

Born in 1958. Married to Elise, three children.
