The Board

The Board consists of the following seven members:

  • Petter Andreas Steen, MD, PhD, Professor of Acute Medicine, representing The University of Oslo, Norway
  • Lars Wiklund, MD, PhD, Professor of Anesthesiology, The University of Uppsala, Sweden, representing
    The Scandinavian Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine
  • Geir Sverre Braut, MD, Deputy Director General, Norwegian Board of Health, Oslo, Norway
  • Doris Østergaard, MD, Ass. Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Danish Institute of Medical Simulation, Herlev University Hospital, Herlev, Denmark
  • Åge Lærdal, MD, Pediatrician, Stavanger University Hospital, Stavanger, Norway
  • Tore Lærdal, Chairman of Laerdal Medical AS, Stavanger, Norway
  • Astrid Lærdal Frøseth, District Court Judge, Stavanger District Court, Stavanger, Norway

Conflict of Interest

Tore Laerdal and his children are the owners of the Laerdal Medical company, which has a commercial interest in the same field as the Foundation providing support to Laerdal Medical also rents its facility in Stavanger from the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine, following the donation of this real estate from the Laerdal families to the Foundation in 2004.
Tore Laerdal is Chairman of the Board, and Petter Andreas Steen is a Board member of Laerdal Medical.
Lars Wiklund, Doris Østergaard and Petter Andreas Steen are heading research groups that have received support from the Laerdal Foundation.

The nomination of Astrid Lærdal Frøseth to the Board has been approved by The National Court Administration.

The Foundation Board has established a conflict of interest policy that prevents board members from participating in consideration of any applications where board members may have a direct interest.
Annual reports on the Boards operation and financial statements arte being sent to the National Registry of Foundations in Norway.
